Welcome Tribal Waters

Congratulations, you are the new owners of Tribal Waters!

Tribal Waters

Tribal Waters

Tribal Waters is a four year old, bay gelding by Tribal Rule (sire aka “Dad”) and out of Rio Tejo (dam aka “Mom”).

Tribal Waters was purchased privately this week and will be on a horse van to Emerald Downs tomorrow.

Because we purchased him privately, he is not subject to the 45 day “jail rule” that Charlie is subject to.

He has 10 lifetime starts, 2 wins, 1 second, 1 third and lifetime earnings of $38,827. All of his starts have been in sprints and his body type is more “sprinter” than “route” horse. Once he arrives we’ll do conformation comparisons between him and Charlie as their builds are very different.

Past Performances: Tribal Waters

Because Tribal Waters has never raced at Emerald Downs, he is eligible for the Ship and Run Incentive Program. That program provides $400 for a horse whose most recent start was made outside of Washington and that has not previously started at Emerald Downs. It will be deposited into the Emerald Racing Club account upon his first start. The program is designed to alleviate some of the expenses of racehorse ownership.

Charlie did not meet the eligibility for the incentive because he raced at Emerald Downs last year.

    • Hi Debra,

Yes, you are reading correctly. Tribal Waters is related to Secretariat via the sire line descendent through Storm Cat. And three generations back on his dam side is the great Seattle Slew. Also known as a great broodmare sire.

  1. Indeed, good luck to all of us. You’re right, His record shows a real propensity for the sprint. Be nice if he could stretch that speed out to 6f.

  2. Oh my goodness, this is so exciting to buy horses! I haven’t really had a chance yet to say hello to Charlie Thomas so, I can’t wait to say hello to Tribal Waters and Charlie Thomas!

  3. He is absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to be at the wire cheering him home.
Are we still continuing to pursue the possible ownership of a third horse if the right horse were to present it’s self?

    • Hi Shane,

Larry Ross is headed back from CA so that eliminates our “eyes on the ground” so to speak. We’ll take a go with these two and see where we are!

      • How very exciting to hear that Larrys on his way back up here.
I cant wait to watch our boys race. Its so nice of you Sophia and the Ross’ to do everything you continue to do.
Owning a race horse be it whether we were vested 1%, 10% or 100% has always been a goal and its just so exciting to have two such beutiful horses representing that goal on track at Emerald Downs.

  4. WOW……………….My Favorite horse of all time was Secretariat/ Let’s pray Tribal Waters has the stretch and the low key disposition of his ancester. . .

  5. I know next to nothing about racing horses, other than I’ve always loved to watch them run (race or workout, doesn’t matter). The combination of strength and sensitivity of these animals is, to sound sappy, inspiring. I appreciate being able to read everyone’s comments, and Sophia, your replies. Learning a lot. Thanks everyone!

  6. Hi Sophia,

Will there be any chance that Charlie Thomas would run on the 23rd or 24th?

    Carlene Obiacoro

    • Hi Carlene,

There is no race in the condition book for this weekend, but if the racing office writes an extra and it fills, then there is a possibility. Won’t know until entry day on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
